VEĽKÝ LOM
“Parta” on this painting was one of the 5 replicas of already lost “parts” made up specialy for this project. “Parta” was worn in Veľký Lom since 18. century till first half of 20th century. Girls worn them into church since 14 year old. “Parta” was symbol of girl´s maturity. In time of wedding was “parta” added with green wreath. It is composed of lots of multicolour stripes of different masses on wooden red plank. “Parta” was covered with lots of beads and glass pearls. Haircut under “parta” was called “na mazničke” (simple separating hairs to sides) Similar “parta” was worn also in Novohrad region with few differences also in Turie Pole, Horný Tisovník and also in Lešť. Geometrical patterns, typical for this region, is able to be seen mostly on model´s face. Authors got inspiration from mosaical needlework of woman bonnet.
