LENDAK
In village of Lendak traditional wreath used to be called “Konka” made of cardboard arc lined by red cloth. As decoration were used white cloth flowers and spangles which were put on wire. Coloured pins used to pin up spangles with glass pearls on arc. On arc were sewn stripes. Girls were wearing haircut “pridžol” and tied up in pigtail at the end. “Konka” was also worn by bridesmaides but without rosemary wreath. It was also worn on child baptizing on which it used to be worn by single godmother. Also in our days you are able to see young brides with “Konka” on their heads. Usual part of wedding obligation was cry of bride caught on the painting. Grey shade of painting is showing a fear of new life which she is walking in.
